PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) — Twenty-one-year-old Kristen Danyal of Sterling Heights has been crowned Miss Michigan USA.
Organizers say Danyal was previously Miss Michigan Teen USA and will graduate in May from the University of Detroit Mercy with a business degree with an emphasis on marketing. Danyal, who is also Miss Blue Water USA, was chosen Saturday night from among finalists at McMorran Auditorium in Port Huron.
Danyal told The Times Herald of Port Huron (http://bit.ly/oq4HkN) that she prayed while awaiting the decision and "let it rest in the judges' hands."
She will compete in the Miss USA pageant to be held in July 2012. Pageant Organizers say Miss Midland USA Lauren Hazlett was first runnerup.
Miss Oakland Township Courtney Pizzimenti, a 17-year-old senior from Rochester Adams High School, was crowned Miss Michigan Teen USA.
