A Bunker Hill, W.Va., man convicted in September of first-degree robbery in a November 2011 home invasion was sentenced Thursday in Berkeley County Circuit Court to 44 years in state prison, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Gregory K. Jones said.
Tyler Shane Munson also was sentenced by Judge John Yoder to one to 15 years for burglary, one to five years for criminal conspiracy and two to 10 years for assault in the commission of a felony, Jones said. The sentences are to be served consecutively, he said.
Those sentences are to run consecutively to a three- to 30-year sentence Munson is serving for unrelated burglary and grand larceny cases, Jones said.
The jury convicted Munson of the Nov. 28, 2011, incident in which the Winchester Avenue home of the victim, a 76-year-old man, was forcibly entered and the man was assaulted, court records said. The victim told police that cash, collectible coins and computers were stolen, court records said.
Munson was 20 when he was indicted in the incident in February.
In October, another Bunker Hill, W.Va., man charged in the same case, Evan Russell Shirley, was sentenced to 16 years for robbery and a concurrent one- to five-year sentence for criminal conspiracy. Shirley entered a plea agreement in the case.
