Man sentenced for prostituting two teenage runaways in Chambersburg

A man convicted of prostituting two teenage runaways in 2008 has been ordered to spend between 22 and 44 years behind bars.

Gregory Ramos, 52, was sentenced by Judge Shawn Meyers Wednesday in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.


Ramos was charged with two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors; and four felony counts: two counts of sexual exploitation of children and two counts of promoting prostitution.

Ramos, who lived at 61 S. Franklin St. in Chambersburg at the time of the crime, was found guilty by a jury in October of all six charges. He has been held in Franklin County Jail since then, awaiting sentencing.

Franklin County Assistant District Attorney Lauren Sulcove, who prosecuted the case, said she was pleased with the sentence handed down by Meyers. Ramos faced a maximum sentence of 44 years, Sulcove said.

Kristen Diller represented Ramos during his trial, according to court records.

Ramos' then-girlfriend, Candy Lee Hubbard, who also lived at 61 S. Franklin St. at the time, faced similar charges as Ramos.

In December 2009, Hubbard pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution and was sentenced to seven years of restrictive intermediate punishment, which included 20 months in Franklin County Jail and eight months of extensive supervision.

On July 25, 2008, the girls, ages 15 and 17, ran away from the Mountain Valley Center, a Chambersburg agency that takes in juveniles placed by the courts or Children and Youth Services, a Chambersburg Police Department spokesperson said previously.

From Aug. 1 to 4, the girls stayed at the home of Ramos and Hubbard, where men paid Hubbard $30 to $40 to have oral sex with the girls and $50 to $60 for sexual intercourse, police said. The 15-year-old told police she had sex with 15 to 17 men during the three-day period, police said.

The girls were given a place to stay, clothing, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and condoms, and Hubbard told them not to leave the house during the day because police might see them, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
