The Honorable David O’Brien Martin, 68, of Hedgesville, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his residence while under the care of Hospice and surrounded by his wife and family.
Born April 26, 1944, in St. Lawrence Co., N.Y., he was the son of the late Edson A. and Anne O’Brien Martin.
He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served in Vietnam.
He proudly served six terms in the United States House of Representatives representing his constituents in Northern and Central New York.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Massey Martin; three daughters, Tori, Kelly, and Julia; two step-children Michael and Kimberly; grandchildren, Jacquline Victoria and William O’Brien; and shared with his wife 11 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his brother and his sister, Edson A. and Jean.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father George Pucciarelli celebrant. Interment prayers will be said in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
