CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—A group of area pastors and educators are planning a trip to Israel from Feb. 25 to March 9, 2012, with an optional extension to Jordan, Petra and Eilat through March 14.
The Rev. William H. Harter, pastor emeritus of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, Chambersburg, Pa.; the Rev. Lloyd Zimmerman, pastor of Mount Rock Brethren in Christ Church, Shippensburg, Pa.; the Rev. Russell Sullivan of Pine Street Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg, Pa.; and Ian Jacobs of Chambersburg Area Senior High School will lead the tour. The Rev. Mark Keffer, associate pastor, Grace Presbyterian Church, Plano, Texas, a Chambersburg native, also will co-direct.
Teachers and educators are encouraged to consider the trip, which includes the opportunity to receive Graduate Continuing Education Act 48 credit through Wilkes University in Scranton, Pa., subject to permission. The tour replaces a tour originally scheduled this summer from July 24 to Aug. 7, designed for educators and families.
The tour will include coverage of the Galilee area, the Golan Heights, the Jerusalem area, Masada, Bethlehem, the coastal plains and the Northern Negev. Direct-land transportation will be provided to and from Newark Airport on nonstop flights to and from Tel Aviv on El Al Israel Airlines.
The trip will be guided by Mike Rogoff, former travel columnist for The Jerusalem Post and an area co-editor for Fodor’s Travel Guide to Israel.
Harter, a specialist in Jewish-Christian relations and Middle East studies, will be co-directing his 35th trip to Israel and Bible lands.
