The theft of the vases, which had a value of $43,950, occurred Oct. 16, deputies said. A cemetery groundskeeper reported the incident, deputies said.

Before his arrest, deputies recovered $500 in scrap metal from Fishack’s vehicle after the defendant was caught on Sept. 25 breaking into Maryland Metals on Antietam Drive in Hagerstown, deputies said.

Fishack was charged with theft and trespassing in that incident and released on his own recognizance, deputies said.

Deputies also allege that Fishack stole an air-conditioning unit on Oct. 1 from a home on Twin Springs Drive in Smithsburg, according to the release.
