No new date has been scheduled for the hearing, which was scheduled for 9 a.m. in Franklin County Court, according to court officials.
In Pennsylvania, preliminary hearings are when the prosecution presents evidence and testimony for the case to proceed to the next level, normally circuit court.
In court documents, Washington Township police said upon arriving at the Rettig home, officers found Dr. Stephen Rettig on the porch sitting on a chair with his right pant leg soaked in blood.
Stephen Rettig told police that he and his wife argued over their 18-year-old son using Colleen Rettig’s laptop to apply to colleges, the affidavit said.
Rettig told police that his wife became enraged, began yelling and screaming at him, and grabbed a knife and came at him, police said.
Stephen Rettig was able to disarm his wife several times before she struck him on the right thigh with a sharp object, according to the affidavit. The laceration was about 1 1/2 inches wide and deep.
According to the police report, a family member transported Stephen Rettig to the Waynesboro Hospital emergency room for treatment of his injuries.
Colleen Rettig was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jody Eyer and placed in Franklin County Jail on $50,000 bail. Rettig posted bail on Friday.
