A Kearneysville, W.Va., woman has been named Miss Berkeley County 2013.
Eliza Windle, 22, bested six other contestants to win the Miss Berkeley County Scholarship Organization’s 2013 pageant Saturday at the Apollo Civic Theatre, according to Shelley Nichols Franklin, executive director of the organization.
Windle, the daughter of Wesley and Kathy Windle, is a 2012 dance graduate of AMDA — The College and Conservatory of Performing Arts. Her platform is open hearts — foster families and she performed a contemporary dance to “Temporary Home.”
First runner-up was Willa Hahn, 18, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., a senior at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts in Hagerstown.
Other contestants were Amber Collis, Krista Mayville, Makayla Lewis, Emilee Pierson and Marlaina Wolfe.
Megan Scarano was named Miss Berkeley County Outstanding Teen and Emily Matlock was awarded the title of Miss North Eastern Outstanding Teen.
Megan, 14, is from Martinsburg, W.Va., and is a student at Barbara Ingram. Emily, 15, is from Charles Town, W.Va., and is a student at Jefferson High School.
All three titleholders will advance to the Miss West Virginia and Miss West Virginia Outstanding Teen competitions in Morgantown, W.Va., in June.
