Man whose body was found outside Martinsburg Walmart is identified

The Martinsburg Police Department has identified a body found last week behind a Walmart store as that of a 56-year-old Martinsburg man.

The man was found Thursday lying behind the store at 800 Foxcroft Ave. with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to a police department news release.


Police said they spoke with the man's family to confirm his identity.

Officers said last week that they found a .38-caliber handgun next to the body.
