Residents of Martinsburg interested in serving on the city's boards or commissions are invited to submit a letter of interest and a resume.
There a total of four vacancies on the Historic Preservation Review Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Shade Tree Commission, the city said in a news release Wednesday.
A vacancy on the Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority, or Pantran, board also must be filled by a city resident, according to the release. And letters of interest to serve on the city's Planning Commission also are being accepted.
Interested city residents should send letters of interest and resumes to Mayor George Karos, City of Martinsburg, 232 N. Queen St., Martinsburg, WV 25401, to be considered for a mayoral appointment.
Members of the Historic Preservation Review Commission review property owners' requests to change exterior architectural features involving construction, alteration, repair and designs in the city's historic preservation district. Much of the district is comprised of the city's downtown business district and neighboring residential areas.
There are two vacancies on the commission board, which meets the first Monday of each month, according to the city.
The city's zoning board, which meets on the first Tuesday of each month, reviews applications for exceptions for variances to the city's zoning ordinance.
The Shade Tree Commission reviews plans to plant, prune, maintain and remove trees within the public right of way, public square and other publicly-owned grounds. The commission meets on an "as-needed" basis.
There is one vacancy on both the zoning board and Shade Tree Commission.
More information about the board and commission vacancies can be obtained on the city's website at www.cityofmartinsburg.org or by contacting City Engineer Michael Covell or City Planner Tracy Smith at 304-264-2131, ext. 266.
