MARTINSBURG, W.Va. —
Police in Martinsburg are looking for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint Tuesday night in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue, according to a Martinsburg Police Department news release.A warrant charging Jason Lee Johnson, 21, of no fixed address with armed robbery was issued by Berkeley County Magistrate Sandra L. Miller, police said.
Johnson is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 130 pounds, and was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie sweat shirt and dark jeans, police said.
Johnson is accused of pointing what appeared to be a firearm at the victim and demanding her purse as she was unloading her children from her vehicle just after 11 p.m., police said.
The victim was dragged to the ground as Johnson was attempting to steal her purse, which got stuck on her wrist, police said.
Johnson then fled on foot with the victim’s purse and belongings, which later were found with the assistance of a K-9 unit from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Johnson’s jacket and the firearm, which was determined to be a BB gun, along with a mask and identification also were found, police said.
