A 1-year-old girl was taken to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center Wednesday after her baby carriage was struck by a vehicle and dragged for about two car lengths on a Chambersburg street, police said.

The girl was being pushed in a baby carriage across the pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Cedar and West Queen streets when a 1997 Chevy Blazer being driven by Joan Brown of 323 Warm Spring Road in  Chambersburg hit the carriage at about 5:30 p.m., Chambersburg police said.

The child was extricated from beneath the vehicle by emergency personnel from the Franklin Fire Co., police said.

The victim was taken to Chambersburg Hospital and then flown to Hershey Medical Center for additional treatment.

Her condition was not available Wednesday night.
