Whitetail Resort will host its 12th annual Great Outdoors Festival at the resort on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The resort will feature a number of craft and food vendors from the region as well as regional organizations like the Penn State Mont Alto Woodsman Team, The Appalachian Outdoor School, the Franklin County 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Club, and apple butter making by local Boy Scout Troop 95 from Shady Grove, Pa.
A new addition to the festival this year is the Fall Downhill 5K trail run, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The challenging course is set on the Whitetail Mountain and includes both uphill and downhill terrain.
Entrants receive a free Tech T-shirt as well as free admission to the Great Outdoors Festival.
Other highlights of the weekend include chairlift rides, pie and ice cream eating contests, kid’s entertainment and activities, snowmaking tours, paintball, archery, a petting zoo, and a climbing wall.
Saturday will include the country blues stylings of The Folsom Prisoners, a band from Fairfax, Va. West Virginia bluegrass band The Hillbilly Gypsies, will perform at the festival on Sunday.
The cost of admission to the festival is $8 for adults, and $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and seniors. Admission is free for kids ages 5 and younger.
Any person who comes to the festival to pick up or purchase a winter season Season Pass or Advantage Card will also receive free admission to the festival.
The festival marks the last weekend of the Season Pass and Advantage Card early bird sale, which ends on Oct. 31.
