MARTINSBURG, W.Va. —Unwanted tires will be accepted free of charge Friday and Saturday at the South Berkeley Recycling Center as part of a tire-collection event.
Hosted by the Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority in cooperation with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, the event will accept tires from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the recycling center at 637 Pilgrim St. in Inwood, W.Va., solid waste authority Chairman Clint Hogbin said in a news release.
Participants may dispose up to 10 tires free of charge per valid driver's license, and the tires do not need to be removed from the rims, Hogbin said.
Each tire will be inspected before acceptance, and officials reserve the right to reject any tire not considered acceptable.
Metal vehicle rims without tires also will be accepted for recycling, Hogbin said.
