MARTINSBURG, W.Va. —A Winchester, Va., man was treated at City Hospital Saturday and released after a bullet went through his hand and grazed his chin, according to a news release from the Martinsburg Police Department.
A Martinsburg police sergeant was in the parking lot of the Red Cafe, on Wilson Street, for a noise complaint at about 2:58 a.m. Saturday when he was flagged down to the other side of the parking lot about the gunshot victim, the release states.
Wayne Marcellus Massey, 27, and whose birthday was Saturday, was the man who was shot in the hand, according to the release.
According to Massey, two black males, one of whom had a gun, approached him in the parking lot, the release states. The men were described as being in their mid-20s, one possibly 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and the other is possibly 6 feet tall, the release states. Both men had a heavyset or stocky build.
One suspect hit Massey and the other shot him, the release states. Both suspects fled in a vehicle, the release states.
