A Warfordsburg, Pa., woman who crashed a car with a preteen child sitting in the passenger seat was charged over the weekend with driving under the influence, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Jennifer Irene Shaw, 34, also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children, according to a state police news release.

The crash happened Saturday at 9:54 p.m., when Shaw's vehicle struck a tree as she was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix south on Moss Road in Brush Creek Township, Pa., troopers said.

An investigation determined that Shaw purchased drugs earlier in the day with the child in the vehicle, troopers said.

Police allege that Shaw injected the drugs before the crash.
