The counseling department at Waynesboro Area Senior High School will host a Financial Aid Night Thursday, Jan. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The program is for any interested parents of college-bound students. The guest speaker will be Dan Wray, a representative from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency.
Wray will share information about the basics of financial aid and how the system works. Representatives of local agencies offering scholarships will be on hand to share information about what their organizations are offering to students, according to a news release.
The high school counseling department also will host a free program on Monday, Feb. 4, that will help parents fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
The program will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the library and computer lab at the high school.
This drop-in event will feature two directors from Shippensburg (Pa.) University’s financial aid office, who are also FAFSA experts. They will assist parents with filing the FAFSA, and computers will be available for parents to access the FAFSA website and get help as they proceed through the process.
Parents should bring their 2012 W-2, federal income tax return, any other records regarding untaxed income (welfare, veteran benefits, etc.), and any records of stocks, bonds or investments.
