MARTINSBURG, W.Va.—A woman who told police she was sexually assaulted by a Berkeley County man claimed she was thrown down a flight of stairs by her hair and pushed outside his home after being attacked, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
Michael Terry Dotson, 36, of 122 Ritter Drive, Martinsburg, was arraigned Thursday on two counts of second-degree sexual assault by Magistrate Sandra L. Miller, according to court documents.
The woman told police the assault happened on Aug. 8 after they smoked crack cocaine, according to court documents.
The woman said the defendant had invited her into his residence after she had picked him up in Hagerstown and taken him home, according to court documents.
A sexual assault exam was performed at City Hospital in Martinsburg and the woman appeared to have bruises and scrapes consistent with being thrown down a flight of carpet-covered stairs and a lot of her hair was falling out, according to a complaint filed by Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy Lt. Gary Harmison.
Harmison said the defendant, when questioned, indicated they had sexual intercourse in the victim’s vehicle, but the investigation did not find any indication that such an encounter happened there, according to court documents.
