Mike Armstrong with Global National in Montreal reports that Pierre Morand is talking to police in Florida right now. Morand was reportedly found in his home in Hallandale, Florida.
Morand was “shocked” to hear that police were looking for him.
Armstrong reports that Morand called the city director of Lachute, where Morand was fire chief, and told him he had no idea that he was the subject of a potential kidnapping search.
The search began in Hillsville where a hotel worker found a handwritten note from a child saying she was missing, and that police were looking for her.

11:20 a.m. FRIDAY: We are learning more about a former Canadian fire chief that police are looking for in a potential kidnapping case.
The fire department where Pierre Morand worked in Lachute, Quebec, held a retirement party for him last Friday, according to Global National reporter Mike Armstrong.
Morand turned in his work equipment -- including a work cell phone, CB radio, and pager -- last Friday.
Armstrong talked to the general director of Lachute, who says that people there who have seen the surveillance video of Morand leaving the hotel believe the female in the video is Morand’s wife.
Armstrong reports that Morand worked for the Lachute Fire Department for 14 years, and had a clean record.
A hotel worker in Hillsville found a note believed to be from a young girl, stating that she was missing and that police are looking for her. Investigators are trying to track down Morand to see if he is actually with a missing girl. The note was signed by Jasmine Hines.
