Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op announced Monday morning that it will open a second location.
The group plans to open its second location in downtown Roanoke’s Center in the Square in March. Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op already has a store in Roanoke’s Grandin Village. It has been in that location since 1978.
The new location will be where Thomas’ Market once was. The store will be 1,225 square feet, and carry many of the same items as the Grandin store.
“We’re excited to be in the position to grow our cooperative, and the growth of Downtown Roanoke shows us that it’s the right place for us to be,” general manager Bruce Phlegar wrote in a news release.
Roanoke Natural Foods Co-Op bought an urban farm in Northeast Roanoke in October. The 24.9-acre farm, Heritage Point, supplies customers with fresh produce, honey, and free-range eggs.
