HENRY COUNTY, Va.—
Potentially life-saving medical care will now just be a helicopter flight away from Southern Virginia.
A medical helicopter will now be based at the Blue Ridge airport in Henry County.
Wake Forest Baptist Health and Air Methods Corporation announced the plan Wednesday morning morning.
The helicopter, called Air Care Three, will serve eight counties on both sides of the Virginia-North Carolina border.
A full-time four person medical and maintenance staff will be stationed at the airport permanently.
Air Care has two other helicopters stationed in North Carolina.
