EAST ISLIP, NY (PIX11)—
An East Islip toddler drowned in a backyard swimming pool Wednesday afternoon, according to the Suffolk County Police.Byron McArthur, 21 months old, entered the pool by climbing up a ladder. A family member found the boy at the bottom of the pool and called police at 12:39 p.m. while the mother attempted to perform CPR.
McArthur was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating.
