MT. EDEN, N.Y. (PIX11)—Police arrested the man they believe is responsible for a wild shooting in the waiting room of a Bronx hospital emergency room. Michael "Mills" Wayman, 19, is under arrest and charged with first degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Wayman was the prime suspect in Wednesday's shooting inside the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Three other suspects were arrested at the scene.
Cecilia Belle-Singleton was being treated for a hand injury when she and her doctor ducked for cover, she says "..before you know it, you heard four shots, pop-pop, pop-pop, just like that."
The NYPD says an argument between two men escalated to a fight in the waiting room. One of the men ran outside, apparently to retrieve a weapon, then came back inside firing wildly.
Police say the bullets ricocheted off the ceiling. A 42-year-old male security guard was shot in the groin. A 37-year old male nurse was shot in the shoulder. Both are listed in stable condition and are expected to be released from the hospital.
