MET Guard Accidentally Shoots Himself

A security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art accidentally shot himself Friday while cleaning his weapon, officials said.

According to museum officials, the guard was in a basement level room of the MET when his firearm went off, wounding him in the leg. No other injuries were reported.


The guard, who wasn't immediately identified, was transported to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

He is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.
