NEW YORK (PIX11)—There's nothing like settling in at a local bar, ready to take in the latest nationally televised debate.
We're talking about that other main event, the debate between this election's two vice presidential candidates, Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan.
The folks who own Sidebar on east 15th street, and Pourhouse on 3rd avenue, decided to draw a line in the sand.
Sidebar is GOP headquarters for those who can muster the energy to get interested in tonight's talk-back.
A stiff drink helps.
Bartender Sarah Ottasan told PIX11's, "this is Cruzan raspberry rum, splash of grenadine. I hate to do a rum-ney shot, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Delicious."
Over at Village Pourhouse, the Dems are going hard with their own debate friendly signature drink.
Pourhouse bartender Amanda Vazquez said, "We are making a Barack O'bomb...ours is better.
How important is the only vice-presidential debate?
Perhaps our nation's first vice president, John Adams, put it best, when he said, “my country has in its wisdom contrived for me the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived.”
In other words, as Daniel Jean-Baptiste said, "It doesn't mean as much, it doesn't carry as much weight as the presidential debate for me."
