HARRISBURG—It's time to play ball. The Harrisburg Senators are set to kick off their 2012 home season at Metro Bank Park tonight.
The team has started the season 5-2 before coming home to City Island for tonight's game against the Reading Phillies. Part of the excitement of minor league baseball is always the family friendly environment. The team has planned giveaway nights, fireworks and a whole lot more to make the 2012 season another success.
So far, the team has already reached over a 100,000 pre-sold tickets for the season and they hope the sales and good promotions will continue to bring the customers through the gates.
"It's much more than just a ballgame when you come out here. Great baseball, no doubt. But it's all the other things that go into it, the atmosphere, the promotions, the destination parts throughout the park," said Harrisburg Senator's President Kevin Kulp.
The Senator's front office staff is putting their feet on the line for a good cause. Staff will begin to walk around the stadium's boardwalk at 6 am. They will continue to walk through tonight's game. If the team wins, they get to go home. If they lose, staff will walk continuously through the night until Friday night's game.
Fans will have the chance to donate money for the walk with all of the proceeds benefiting the Harrisburg YMCA.
