One of York County's largest employers is laying off workers. BAE Systems Land & Armaments in West Manchester Township says it will temporarily furlough about 210 Bradley production line employees for 30 days from mid-July through mid-August. A company spokesman says the layoffs were due to the U.S. Defense Department's delay in awarding the Bradley Fiscal Year 2012 production contract.
The company says that it deeply regrets the temporary reduction in the workforce, but it is necessary in the current business environment.
The York County defense contractor employs about 1,250 workers.
