Chambersburg, Franklin County—A West Virginia woman has been charged for her role in a Franklin County bank robbery. It happened on September 22, 2011 at the Farmers & Merchants Bank branch on the 800 block of Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg. The robbery suspect, later identified as 42 year old Michael Silver, armed with a handgun walked into the bank and demanded money. He fled with some money. Silver had robbed the same bank back in 2003. Investigators determined that 28 year old Christina Leonard of Martinsburg, West Virigina drove Silver to the bank and fled with him out of state after the robbery.
On September 27th, Silver was fatally wounded in a shootout with police in West Virgina who responded to a reported carjacking at a mall in Martinsburg. Silver was attempting to force his victim to withdraw money from a bank ATM.
Chambersburg police charged Leonard with one count of Criminal Conspiracy for the F&M bank robbery. She is currently incarcerated in the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
