The loss of coach Barb Grady is like losing a family member for the tight-knit Dover High School community.

"She's just been a tremendous influence in this school district," said athletic director Rich Leatherly.

Grady passed away Sunday after battling ovarian cancer. At Friday night's game, each member of the school community remembered her in their own way.

"It's been a rough time. It's been really difficult for us and the whole team," said Bayleigh Hoffman, a junior on the volleyball team.

Grady taught gym at Dover for 34 years and coached the girls' volleyball team for nearly thirty years. The team sold bracelets at Friday night's game to raise money for a scholarship in her name.

"To see the outpouring from the students and the community, it's a neat feeling. She would be really proud," said Cori Grady, Barb's sister.

The football team wore teal socks and wristbands for ovarian cancer, as well as stickers with Grady's initials on their helmets.

"This is just our way to pay our respects to her memory," said head coach Bill Miller.
