LONDON, England – A Concord High School graduate competing in the World Paralympic Games in London was disqualified in one of his events on Thursday.
The DQ for 19-year-old Dalton Herendeen came in the 200-meter individual medley.
He was disqualified for a stroke violation regarding his kick during the breast stroke portion of his IM race. His coach said its never been called before.
Herendeen is scheduled to compete in five other events.
The 200M medley was his first race in London.
Herendeen, a current University of Indianapolis sophomore, swims without his left leg. Doctors amputated that leg when he was just 1-week-old because of a blood clot.
Because of his disability, he’s competing in the Paralympics against other disabled swimmers.
Herendeen is due to swim again on Saturday.
