EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a 45-year-old Indiana man has been charged with planning to blow up a building and vehicle with the same explosive material used in the Oklahoma City federal building bombing.
Gregory Allen Hazel is in the Vanderburgh County Jail Thursday on a $10,000 cash bond following his Wednesday arrest. Charges include being a convicted felon possessing, manufacturing, transporting or distributing a regulated explosive.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports that detectives recovered ammonium nitrate and two firearms.
Authorities say other arrests are planned and federal prosecutors are looking at filing charges in the case.
It wasn't immediately clear if Hazel has an attorney.
The Oklahoma City federal building was destroyed in 1995 when a truck containing a homemade ammonium nitrate-and-fuel oil bomb was detonated nearby, killing 168 people.
