Indiana State Police are seeking the public’s help with tips about the death of a 24-year-old man who was shot while cutting grass for a lawn service company.

Michael Pasternak Jr., of Gary, was mowing a lawn in the 100 block of Park Place in Hebron when he was shot, around 4:10 p.m. Saturday. The residence where Pasternak was working is near a wooded area. His father was work with his son when the shooting occurred.

Nearby residents told police there were five or six shots heard in the area.

Pasternak was taken to Porter Hospital in Valparaiso and then airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. He died there Sunday morning, according to an ISP news release.
