Barbara Kay Hurd Houston, 55, of Hagerstown, Md., died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born Nov. 6, 1955, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Marvin "Dick" and Arlean Rosemarie Baker Hurd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian Houston.
She was a 1973 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
She was employed by Capitol Lighting in Hagerstown.
Barbara was a member of First Christian Church. She was in charge of ushers, and was a member of the worship commission.
She volunteered with REACH Cold Weather Shelter.
She is survived by two sisters, Vicky Smith of Hagerstown and Diane Ashton of Glen Burnie, Md.; one niece, Laura Maddock of Hagerstown; two nephews, Bryan Smith of Greencastle, Pa., and Keith Ashton of Crofton, Md.; two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Nancy J. Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
