C. Eugene Pittman, 89, of Waltz Road in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown, Md.
Born June 3, 1922, in Big Cove Tannery, he was the son of the late Mac J. Pittman Sr. and Amber T. Younker Pittman, and widower of Florence A. Dase Pittman, who died May 24, 2005.
He was a retired truck driver, employed by Southern States in Hancock, Md.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Diane Younker of Mercersburg, Pa., Carol Sloan of Hancock, and Patricia Borman of Hagerstown; four stepsons, Russell, James and Mike Hoffman, all of Big Cove Tannery, and Thomas Hoffman of Wasilla, Alaska; one brother, Mac Pittman Jr. of Hancock; two sisters, Olive V. Rogers of York, Pa., and Naomi J. Reinhart of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alvira Pittman.
Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Damascus Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery. The Rev. Dave Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open from 3 to 7 p.m.
