Carmella Florence “Mel” Roser, 80, a resident of Julia Manor Health Center and formerly of Guilford Avenue, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born July 19, 1931, in Barnesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Eva Conner Scalese.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Donald W. Roser, in 1986.
Mel owned and operated her own day-care center for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelli Roser of Hagerstown; a sister, Rose Lamer of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a granddaughter, Ashley Stouffer of Hagerstown; a grandson, Edward Stouffer Jr. of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Blair; and three brothers, Joseph Scalese, Paul Scalese and Anthony Scalese.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Ronald K. Faith will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
