Charles M. Eccard, 85, of Forrest School Road, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born April 23, 1927, in Garfield, Md., he was the son of the late Noah and Amy Alice (Miller) Eccard.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dixie Fay (Brown) Eccard, Feb. 24, 2012.
He was employed as a farmer with the Chewsville Cooperative Association and with Mack Trucks Inc. of Hagerstown, where he served as a union official for many years.
He was a member of Garfield United Methodist Church since 1939, holding many offices over the years; a member of the United Auto Workers Local 171; and a member of the Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by Regina Miss and husband, Dale, and sons, Joseph, John and David Miss and fiancée Amanda Tressler; Paula Hood and husband, Terry, and daughters, Jill Hood and companion, Andrew Fulton, and Emily Brown and husband, Jacob; and Sylvia Lilliech and husband, Roger, and son, James Lilliech and wife, Lisa.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Eccard and John Eccard; and sisters, Ruth Paden and Effie Stottlemyer.
Services will be Friday, May 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Garfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Jennifer Kokoski officiating. Burial will be in Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
