Debra Kay Smith, 47, of 13131 Kaiser Ridge Road, Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born Sept. 18, 1964, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Stanley E. and Myrtle Whorten Smith of Hagerstown.
She attended North Street School, Marshall Street School, Job Development Center and the day program at Washington County Human Development Council.
Debra participated in the Special Olympics for 25 years. She also bowled in the tenpin league for the Special Olympics.
She will be sadly missed by all of her friends. She had a heart of gold and touched so many lives. She was one of God’s special angels.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Kimberly Sue Spicer and husband, Timothy; two nieces, Michelle Lynn Burkett and Cassie Lynn Spicer; a good friend, Shelly; and her cat, Lucky.
There will be no viewing.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore Inc., 635 W. Lexington St., Baltimore, MD 21201; or the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation, 6601 Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD 21228.
