Born Monday, Oct. 14, 1929, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Nelson Grimm and Mary Elizabeth Leatherman Grimm.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He attended Boonsboro Family Worship, and enjoyed walking at the mall and helping his neighbors.
Donald will be especially remembered as a loving father.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy M. Flook and husband, Daryl, of Boonsboro, Bonnie S. Hallmark of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mary Ann Grimm of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, Gale Eugene "Bucky" Grimm and wife, Barbara, of Martinsburg; mother of his children, Freda Grimm Burdette of Martinsburg; sisters, Mary "Tootie" Grimm of Funkstown, Md., and Betty Bayer of Waynesboro, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Freda May Grimm; son, David Allen Grimm; brothers, Pete, Harold and Robert "Bob" Grimm; and a granddaughter.
Services will be held Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with Pastor Jack Payne officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, Md.
