Doreen Hope (Hurley) Shoemaker, 46, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at her home.
Born July 2, 1964, in Rahway, N.J., she was the daughter of Arlene Maye (Goodreds) and the late Wayne Lowell Hurley Sr.
Severna Park High School and went on to earn her Associate of Arts degree in computer networking at Hagerstown Community College in 2006.
She worked as a LAN administrator and computer technician at First Data in Hagerstown.
Doreen was a member and on the board of directors for the Western Enterprise Volunteer Fire Dept. Engine Co. No. 4 in Hagerstown. She was also the vice president of their ladies auxiliary and an avid supporter of the bingo nights they had.
Doreen was also a board member and team mom for the Hagerstown Dolphins of Washington County Junior Football League. She enjoyed camping and all aspects of computers, especially computer games.
Doreen is survived by her loving husband of nine years, Ralph H. “Butch” Shoemaker; two daughters, Jessica Marie Coffin and Rebecca Lynn Coffin; two sons, Charles Arthur Coffin and Craig Evan Coffin, all at home; a stepdaughter, Tiffany Lyn (Shoemaker) Shearer and husband, Zack, of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Denise L. Nothey of Manville, N.J., and Debra L. Feather and husband, Michael, of Glen Burnie, Md.; a brother, Wayne L. Hurley Jr. and wife, Anna, of Owings, Md.; and a granddaughter, Payton Renee Shearer of Frederick.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Richard Bower officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
