Doris Elsie Ziehl, 94, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, Md.
Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie Oliveri. She was the loving wife of the late Norman J. Ziehl and sister of the late Melvin, Johnny and Joe Oliveri.
Verizon (formerly C&P Telephone Company) for over 30 years. During that time she served with the Pioneers making little stuffed animals for the children at Children’s Hospital in D.C.
While living with her niece and nephew, Joyce and Larry Coffin in Mercersburg, Pa., she participated in the Hagerstown Community Bible Study and attended Tri-State Fellowship before going to Coffman Nursing Home in June of 2012.
Doris is survived by three generations of adoring nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
A private graveside service, officiated by Pastor Ben Fisler, is planned for the family on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Md.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Ward Childerson, will be held on Feb. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Tri-State Fellowship, 13153 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740. There will be a visitation for family to greet friends at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Doris Ziehl to The Hagerstown Community Bible Study in care of Nancy Saunders, 7725 Dam #4 Road, Williamsport, MD 21795 or to Coffman Nursing Home Activities Department, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742.
