Edna M. Miller, 91, formerly of Monrovia, Md., Phoenix, Ariz., and Boonsboro, Md., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

She was the wife of the late Robert E. "Buster" Miller. They were married in 1948.

She was born in Loudon County, Va., on Dec. 26, 1919, to Estelle and Rodney Costello. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Stevens, and her husband, Tom, of Sharpsburg, Md.; two grandchildren, Carrie Turner and her husband, Jim, of Hagerstown, Md., and Matthew Stevens and his wife, Amber, of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and three great-grandsons, Andrew Turner, Evan Turner and Connor Stevens. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Hudson, who was killed in World War II; her two brothers, Henry Costello and Rodney Costello Jr.; and her beloved sister, Margaret Shibler.

She graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1939 and worked in several banks in the metropolitan area. She later worked at the National Geographic Society in Gaithersburg, Md., and finally at Sagner’s in Frederick, Md., prior to her retirement to Phoenix in 1972. The Millers returned to Maryland in 1995.

Mrs. Miller will be cremated. Family and friends may pay their respects at the home of her daughter on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, from 1 to 5 p.m.
