Esther Marie Hege Rodes, 71, of Mount Crawford, Va., peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at her residence.
Born in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Paul Horst and Catherine (Heatwole) Hege.
She was a member of Truth, Light and Life Mission. On Nov. 29, 1961, she married Daniel David Rodes. Esther and Daniel farmed in the Greencastle, Pa., area from 1962 to 1976 before moving to Dublin, Ga., and then later to the Virginia area, Daniel's birthplace.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Raymond E. Rodes and wife, Leah, of Waynesboro, Pa., Robert J. Rodes and wife, Lera, of Nappanee, Ind., and James D. Rodes and wife, Esther, of McGaheysville, Va.; two daughters, Ellen, wife of Raymond Auville, of Elkton, Va., and Naomi, wife of Mahlon Riehl, of Mount Crawford; three sisters, Freda King, Martha Steiner and Mary Coblentz; and three brothers, Harold Hege, Marlin Hege and Luke Hege.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Priscilla Rodes; and a brother, Earl Hege.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Grace Covenant Church, 3337 Emmaus Road, Harrisonburg, Va. Burial will be in Early Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour before the service at the church.
