Evangeline E. LaFollette, age 91, of Hancock, and a resident of Broadmore Assisted Living, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Broadmore.
Born Nov. 13, 1921, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mae Stoner Hovermale and the widow of Hollis I. LaFollette, who died in 2008.
She had been employed as a seamstress with Jacob Brothers and E.J. Fennel.
She was a devoted, loving and caring wife to her husband (Granddad) for more than 71 years. When her husband left to serve in World War II, she raised their three children and took care of the house until blessed with his safe return.
She was the ultimate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was exemplary as a model to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Meyers of Hagerstown and Peggy True of Hancock, Md.; one son, Bob LaFollette of Hagerstown; three sisters, Ora Mae Thompson of Hancock, Opal McCusker of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Carol Keefer of Needmore, Pa.; one brother, Jim Hovermale of Berkeley Springs; six grandsons, Steve Meyers, Brad LaFollette, Scott True, Chris Meyers, Tom LaFollette and Andrew Meyers; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
A service will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Hancock United Methodist Church. The Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
There will be visitation at the church Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Arrangements were handled by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.
