Evelyn "Diane" Huffer, age 62, of 6 W. Main St. in Hancock, Md., passed from this life on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Md.
Born on Aug. 30, 1950 in Brunswick, Md., she was the daughter of Howard M. Huffer and Dorothy (Miller) Huffer Hawes.
Diane was a 1968 graduate from the Brunswick High School.
She retired from the YMCA in Brunswick as well as from the Frederick County Public Schools.
Diane was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary 1136 since 1972.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Carl Potter of Warfordsburg, Pa. She will be dearly missed by her niece and family with whom she shared a home, Rebecca Fauble of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; great-niece, Taylor Littleton of Harpers Ferry, great-niece, Morgan Fauble of Brunswick; great-nephew, Brandon Fauble of Brunswick, and Mark Fauble, the children's loving father. She is also survived by three loving nephews and their families, Jack Howard and wife, Julie, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., Keith Potter and wife, Nicole, of Warfordsburg, and Jeremy Heskett of Hagerstown, Md. In addition she leaves behind a sister-in-law, Margaret Greene of Harpers Ferry, and an aunt, Betty Payne of Knoxville, Md., with who she was close. Surviving also are several uncles, an aunt, great-nieces, great-nephews, many friends and telephone buddies with whom she spoke frequently.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death in 1997 by her brother, Robert Huffer, formerly of Brunswick.
A celebration of Diane's life journey will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Brownsville Heights Cemetery in Brownsville, Md.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration.
Memorial donations will be accepted by Anna Mae Hoffman, 6 W. Main St., Hancock, MD 21750 for the residents of Monterey House; or to the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Knoxville, MD 21758.
