Frederick Joseph Naimo, 93, of 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, Md., passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, at Homewood at Williamsport.
Born Sunday, March 17, 1918, in Staten Island, New York, he was the son of the late Antonio DiMartinis and the late Marion Dimargio DiMartinis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia D. Naimo in 2003.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving under Gen. George Patton in Africa and later with the liberation of Sicily.
Fred was employed with Mack Trucks Inc., retiring after more than 30 years of service.
He was a member of the BPO Elks 378, Sons of Italy, VFW Post 1936 and the Golden Bulldogs, where he belonged to the bowling and golf leagues. He was an avid World War II historian and enjoyed reading, gardening and listening to music. He also enjoyed lawn bowling with friends at Pangborn Park.
He is survived by two daughters, Anita N. Hennesy and husband, Mike, of Hagerstown, Md., and Kathryn N. Izon and husband, Sonny, of College Heights, Md.; two grandchildren, Juliet Izon of Manhattan, N.Y., and Sean Hennesy and wife, Jessica, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and two great-grandsons, Cameron and Brady Hennesy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James DiMartinis.
Services will be held privately with the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. north, Hagerstown.
