Gary Lee Stouffer, 68, of Duncanville, Texas, went to be with our Lord peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 22, 2012.
Born Sept. 11, 1943, in Hagerstown, Md., Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Leslie Stouffer Jr. and Pauline Virginia Stouffer, both of Hagerstown.
A graduate of North Hagerstown High School by passing the General Educational Development test, Gary worked at the Harold Lung Service Station for many years. Following his employment at Harold Lung, Gary became a deputy sheriff. Following his duties as a deputy, Gary received electrician certification and eventually opened his own business.
While growing up in Hagerstown, Gary was very active in many extracurricular activities. Gary touched many lives, not only with his wit and sense of humor, but also by his countless acts of kindness and his concern for NA fellowship. He especially enjoyed going to the race track with his brother, Norman. The pair was known to ride motorcycles from time to time as well. Gary will be missed by his family, and they will continue his legacy here on earth.
Gary is survived by a son, Robbie; a daughter, Shelby; his brother, Norman L. Stouffer of Midlothian, Texas; and sisters, Leslie Leidig and Melodie Schutte, both of Hagerstown. He leaves several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, who all loved him dearly.
Services were held Friday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield, Texas. Pastor Mike Ramsdell officiated.
Flowers were sent to First Untied Methodist Church. A small reception was held afterward at the church.
