George Lee Poffenberger, 76, of Trovinger Mill Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his home.
Born Aug. 25, 1936, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Albert and Violet (Moninger) Poffenberger.
He was employed over the years by Highway Furniture, Subway Crab House and was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife Katrina "Kay" Poffenberger; children, Lucenda Kay Poffenberger and companion Michael Harnish of Hagerstown, Vincent Lee Poffenberger and wife Robin of Smithsburg, Alexander Lee Poffenberger of Pawleys Island, S.C., Maryellen Kay Poffenberger and companion Wayne Ditlow of Hagerstown, and Brandon Kylee Poffenberger and companion Lesa Wyis of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Steven Wayne Ditlow, Geoffrey William Ditlow, Traci Nicole Poffenberger, Kaitlyn Jean Kershner and Terri Renee Bryan; brothers, Paul Poffenberger, Albert Poffenberger, Clyde Poffenberger and Matthew Poffenberger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Poffenberger; a brother, Jacob Poffenberger; and a half sister, Janice.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown with Rev. Michael Seger officiating.
