Gloria F. (Rohrer) Hughes, 76, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, passed away suddenly from this life on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born March 2, 1936, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Garriott) Rohrer. Her husband, Lawrence Spriggs, preceded her in death in December of 1961.
She attended Milford Mill High School in Baltimore.
Gloria worked as a key punch operator for the Howard County government, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed swimming at the Wellness Center at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va., playing bingo, taking road trips to Tennessee, and, most importantly, she loved being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Natalie, and her husband, Mike Davenport of Sharpsburg; two grandchildren, Heidi, and her husband Butch Wenner of Boonsboro, and Tony Davenport of Sharpsburg; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Harley Wenner, both of Boonsboro.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Md. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will be held at a later date at Mount Olive Cemetery in Randallstown, Md.
Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the funeral home.
