Harold L. Overcash, 81, of Mercersburg, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Nov. 1, 1931, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was a son of the late Arthur L. and Anna C. Poe Overcash.
Harold was a member of American Legion Post 517 of Mercersburg, Sideling Hill Sportsmen’s Association and FOE of Harrisonville, Pa.
He was an avid trapper for 60 years. Harold enjoyed music, and played and sang on a radio station in Martinsburg, W.Va., in the 1950s.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are two daughters, Vikki J. Eckstine of Myersville, Md., and Carla D. and husband, Jacob Strait, of Mercersburg; two sons, Harold E. Overcash of Waynesboro, Pa., and Darren L. Overcash of Clear Spring; a brother, Robert G. “Sam” and Judy Overcash of St. Thomas, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Edna L. Bowers Overcash, who died Aug. 13, 1988; a son, Dennis W. Overcash; siblings, Richard B. Overcash, C. Russell Overcash and Clarence A. Overcash Sr.; his special companion, Beulah Wibel; and a special nephew, Charles E. Keefer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, with Pastor Paul A. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Welsh Run Church Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
