Harold Theodore "Bud" DeLauney, 84, of Sharpsburg, Md., passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at his home.
Born Feb. 10, 1929, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Theodore Franklin and Miriam Adams DeLauney.
He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He retired from the B&O Railroad and then retired from Shepherd College.
He was a lifetime member for more than 60 years and past commander of American Legion Post 236 in Sharpsburg.
Bud is survived by a son, Gregg DeLauney of Hagerstown, Md.; a niece, Lucinda DeLauney of Sharpsburg; a great-niece, Stephanie Mills of Knoxville, Md.; a sister, Catherine Harris of Funkstown, Md.; a special caregiver, Sheila Levia; and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry DeLauney; and two sisters, Doris Hull and Peggy Gower McNeil.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Darrell L. Layman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, with military graveside honors conducted by AMVETS Post 10 and the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will open Monday at noon for the convenience of family and friends.
